REACTION - Helldivers 2 adds flying Terminids and that’s going to create more FunStress
The method that Arrowhead are using to evolve the concept of “live service” with Helldivers 2 is simply fantastic. There is no developer crunch inducing bloat, and no lightning speed cadence to the updates. The sense of community they’re fostering, and the excitement over newly added features, which players are discovering organically, is creating meaningful engagement.
It’s great to see social media discourse like the “spreading of Managed Democracy” banter. It has become so synonymous with Helldivers 2’s identity, and is a driving force behind the speculation and passion for the game as these new features are added. Arrowhead have really hit the nail… on the head with this one!
If the first game is any indication, bigger expansions and larger scale updates could very easily be on the cards. But for the foreseeable future, Arrowhead’s unique rhythm to keeping the game fresh is paying off in spades. Having access to a mech to eviscerate this new flying scourge has made me feel a lot better about serving my cups of liberTEA.
TARPS?
At the bottom of some of our articles, you’ll see a series of absurd looking images (with equally stupid, in joke laden names). These are the TARP badges, which represent our ‘Totally Accurate Rating Platform’. They allow us to identify specific things, recognise positive or negative aspects of a games design, and generally indulge our consistent silliness with some visual tomfoolery.
