REACTION - Hi-Fi Rush 2 lives at Krafton which makes Microsoft’s decision to bin off Tango all the more baffling
We couldn’t help but perform a full strength Picard Face Palm when Microsoft made a sweeping selection of cuts to their first party studio infrastructure which saw Tango Gameworks placed on the chopping block. A critically acclaimed, beloved studio with strong IP, and the one meaningful toe that Xbox have dipped in the Japanese market, and yet they were unceremoniously dumped alongside three other teams.
Krafton, the publisher behind PUBG and The Callisto Protocol, swopped in and saved the day, retaining the Hi-Fi Rush IP but leaving Ghostwire: Tokyo and The Evil Within with Microsoft. Earlier today, head of corporate development Maria Park revealed that a sequel was already six months into pre production, and the team are also exploring options for DLC.
It’s a wonderful positive to come out of one of the most egregious studio closures in a year filled with similarly baffling management and financial choices. We’re so happy that Tango gets to remerge in a new form, and that Hifi Rush isn’t lost to the ether. A multiplatform release for any subsequent follow ups is all but assured, and we eagerly await further news.

TARPS?
At the bottom of some of our articles, you’ll see a series of absurd looking images (with equally stupid, in joke laden names). These are the TARP badges, which represent our ‘Totally Accurate Rating Platform’. They allow us to identify specific things, recognise positive or negative aspects of a games design, and generally indulge our consistent silliness with some visual tomfoolery.
