SHOUT OUT - Tipping our hat to GOG after re-releasing a bunch of old Star Trek games
The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few. GOG understands this. They have managed to wrestle a wide selection of golden age Activision Trek games from abandonware purgatory and made a whole stack available via their digital storefront. It’s jolly vibes to the max for this rapidly aging fan, and a welcome dose of “just as good as you remembered it” nostalgia.
The two Armada games are certainly standouts, with recent skirmish victory’s over the Borg fuelling a new addiction. Next on the list will inevitably be Elite Force (both 1 and 2), which dared to make Trek into an FPS, with a quick peek at Bridge Commander and a ropey visit to Away Team rounding out a wholesome trip down memory (alpha) lane.
After Star Trek: Resurgence made dreams come true with a Telltale style Trek game, and the promise of Star Trek: Infinite bringing back those classic RTS vibes, Trek fans are eating good this year. Trek Trek Trek.
