SHOUT OUT - Sniper Elite 5 is a wonderful example of iteration done right
We’ve been playing a lot of Sniper Elite 5 in campaign co-op lately, and it has been a smooth, challenging, and rewarding jaunt. The Jager invasion mechanic strikes a particular kind of terror, and figuring out ways to out flank an unwelcome interloper has been a consistent treat. Fair play to Rebellion for taking bigger swings in a sequel that is very much building upon already well established foundations.
Level design feels open without being too overwhelming, and the AI will quickly descend upon you if you decide to go loud without appropriate sound masking and careful planning. It’s also the first time I’ve ever felt that open combat is a viable approach in this series; the actual shooting mechanics feel a lot tighter, and even when chaos descends, there’s plenty of chances for you to drop back into stealth.
I realise this is entirely anecdotal, but I’ve also never had any issues with server disconnections or game breaking glitches. It’s polished, easy to party up, and bloody good fun to play. That’s an easy shout in my books.
