Stomping heads and dodging gunge.

For a game like The Callisto Protocol, which wears its influences proudly on its dismembered sleeve, the comparisons were inevitable. But it’s clear that when you look beyond the obvious, it’s shooting for a different feel.

The focus on timing, between melee attacks and dodges, gives combat a hectic feel that contrasts nicely with the slower pace of movement. It’s also absolutely stunning, and the performance mode is certainly a winner. I’m also a big fan of classic jump scares, of which there is an abundance.

As a first effort from a new studio, Callisto is a confident statement of intent and hopefully the first of many more to come. There’s a lot of scope for them to diversify their approach, and we’re very much looking forward to what’s ahead.
