REACTION - Level Zero: Extraction has weight sensitive lifts and we’re here for it
We thought there was little left that could surprise us, especially in this premium era of indie darlings. But here comes Level Zero: Extraction, an asymmetric horror FPS that we’ve been keeping a close eye on for a while now, with a mechanic that has really tickled our fancy. In certain instances, when attempting to extract valuable loot, the exit elevator has a weight capacity.
This means that you either have to sacrifice valuable items in order to extract with a full squad, or one of your intrepid crew have to take one for the team and get left behind. It’s a simple but brilliant idea, and one that will no doubt generate some drama in the group chat as players decide which “anchor” needs to be dropped.
Its PC early access release is right around the corner, and due to drop on 13th August. We cannot wait to see how this one evolves, especially with a console version promised once the early access period is complete. Weight capacity elevators are hardly a revolutionary feature, but it’s that kind of left field thinking that make games like this stand out for the right reasons.
TARPS?
At the bottom of some of our articles, you’ll see a series of absurd looking images (with equally stupid, in joke laden names). These are the TARP badges, which represent our ‘Totally Accurate Rating Platform’. They allow us to identify specific things, recognise positive or negative aspects of a games design, and generally indulge our consistent silliness with some visual tomfoolery.
