We’ve had our eye on The Ascent for a while now, particularly as it appears to evoke Dead Nation vibes AND might offer a cyberpunk experience that isn’t woefully compromised out of the gate. Yep. Still bitter about 2077.

Of course, the proof will be in the finished pudding, but based on sentiments shared around the web earlier today, things are looking very promising indeed. Jez Corden’s extensive hands on preview is a great read, highlighting the visual fidelity and satisfying gunplay with even the most basic equipment.

It’s a fantastic “get” for Microsoft too, especially with a day and date Game Pass launch dropping on July 29th, but the budget price of £24.99 is yet another shrewd move that will help get people through the door.
