SHOUT OUT - Geoff Keighley is evoking the pageantry of E3, and that’s exactly what we want
Although memories of Shigsy and the Master Sword, Giant Enemy Crabs, and terrible Konami press conferences still burn brightly in our mind place, it’s safe to say that the E3 heyday of live press conferences is a thing of the past. Thankfully, the ultimate nug hunter Geoff Keighley is always on the lookout for a jolly scoop, and between Summer Game Fest, Gamescom Opening Night Live, and The Game Awards, he knows how to bring the hype.
There isn’t anyone who does it quite like him; the understanding of the value inherent to the “one more thing”, the importance of giving devs the space to share their vision, and the sense that everyone in the industry is rooting for his success. It’s a celebration in every sense, and we wanted to take this opportunity to tip our hat to his work.
Whether or not he has managed to beef up security to prevent any further stage invasions remains to be seen. In any case, we hope 10th anniversary of the Game Awards is one to remember.
TARPS?
At the bottom of some of our articles, you’ll see a series of absurd looking images (with equally stupid, in joke laden names). These are the TARP badges, which represent our ‘Totally Accurate Rating Platform’. They allow us to identify specific things, recognise positive or negative aspects of a games design, and generally indulge our consistent silliness with some visual tomfoolery.
