We’re always on the hunt for good co-op experiences, and if they’re laced with an undercurrent of tension and / or involuntary reaction noises, it definitely captures our attention. Level Zero, from Ukraine based DogHowl and legendary indie publisher TinyBuild, certainly ticks those boxes.

With a GTFO graphical style and asymmetric multiplayer that recalls other horror hits like Hello Neighbor and Dead by Daylight, Level Zero makes the case for gathering as many of your friends as possible (primarily for emotional support) as you try and survive against an opposing team of mutated creatures.

The key difference here is the survivors use light and gadgets as a primary weapon, making co-ordination absolutely key. It’s an interesting twist on a formula that often devolves into “who can shoot the most bullets”, and if the monsters abilities and traversal are appropriately balanced, there is huge potential for jolliness here.

Level Zero is due out 2023 for PC and consoles (although no specific platforms have been revealed.
